Some believe that many Halloween traditions originate from Celtic harvest festivals which have possible pagan roots, in particular the Gaelic Festival Samhain, opposing views are that Halloween began independently as a Christian Holiday. Trick or treating, is a Halloween tradition where children knock on doors seeking a treat, in some cases where a treat is not provided the child will play a prank, one well known Halloween prank is to throw uncooked eggs at the doors of houses where a treat was not provided.
